Living alone in big city meant that I have to provide daily needs and anything that I want to buy on my own. I used to get allowance from my parents once a month. But now since I have full time job, I get to fulfil my needs on my own. Unlike in my hometown, everything in here costs really expensive, and I need to be careful of picking what I am going to buy, especially foods. Because I have seen too much dangerous monkey business in culinary in the news.
Because of that I need to be careful of my expense and make sure that I have enough money until the payday come :p
Well... That's not the actual problem. I need to save money for my future life, I have a big plan for that. Nah.. It's not even about marriage
Here, I am going to tell you how to survive with low budget when it comes to things like make up, clothes, and shoes.
- You need to know when the sale is on! Most of shopping malls always have sale in the end of season, end of year, and on special days, like on Eid Fitr, Christmas, Valentine, New year, Halloween, etc. Especially on the end of season or end of the year, they usually have garage sale. Not only shopping malls, but online shops do the same too. But please make sure that the online shops are trusted and recommended. Speaking of trusted online shop, I just purchased two dresses from BerryBenka for cheaper price, since it's on sale. I will upload about it in another entry :)
- Don't go for the brands! I am not saying that all brands are expensive, there are affordable branded items too but some people seem to prefer expensive ones because of prestige :p Actually, there are a lot of good unbranded items, and of course they are much cheaper.
- Do bargain! Unless the shop has fixed price. The tips to bargain, is try asking the shop staff to sell it half price to you. If they refuse it, then add the price a bit up to 3/4 of the price. And if they still want higher price then it's the time you shall leave the shop LOL
- Check the promo websites like Groupon or LivingSocial I never try LS yet, but I have bought several vouchers and items from Groupon. So far, I am really satisfied.
- Go to bazaar. There are some shops that open booth in events, selling with lower price.
- Don't feel embarrassed to do shopping in trade center or public market I have encountered so many people who think that they are 'too classy' or 'too elegant' to buy something from market. Duh please.
- Be creative! Like, modify your clothes or making one by yourself.
- Saving up your money! It is the most common one and taking a while, but it works better than anything else. No pain no gain.
- Buy preloved items. Of course the price would be less than the original price, but please make sure that it is still in good quality.
I have been doing most of the numbers, except no. 9, I rarely do that, because it's not that easy to find a good preloved items, though I am not too fond of preloved cosmetics. But hey... I found a pair of boots in good conditions only for IDR 50.000,- and I did a bit modification to the boots for cosplay needs. Looking good and well dressed are not always about brand and price.
